The Saudi Arabia Grand Prix 2024 in Jeddah was an exciting event where technology and sports came together to provide fans with an unforgettable experience. We are proud to share how we contributed to this event by building several web screens that were displayed during race days on the LED screens next to the grandstands and in the Grand Prix's mobile app called F1 SAGP.

Tight Deadline and Collaboration
With race days scheduled from Thursday, March 7, 2024 through Saturday, March 9, 2024, we had only a little over a month to develop everything. This required tight planning and effective collaboration. Our front-end was built in Next.js(https://nextjs.org/) and the back-end in Booster(https://www.boosterframework.com/). These powerful frameworks allowed us to work quickly and efficiently to deliver the desired functionality.
A special thanks goes to our colleague Hendrik, who was already in Saudi Arabia a week before the start of the race. Hendrik made sure that everything went smoothly on location. Furthermore, we would also like to thank Wout Fierens and Sam Maas from Culture Kids for the fantastic cooperation!
The Project: From Concept to Reality
Social Media Wall
One of the most dynamic screens we developed was the "Social Media Wall." This wall automatically collected and displayed the most important social media posts related to the race. Whether it was tweets or Instagram photos, the most relevant and popular posts were displayed on both the LED screens next to the grandstands and in the F1 SAGP app. This created a sense of community and kept fans up-to-date with what was happening around the race.
Grand Stand Battle Page
Another highlight of our work was the development of the "Grand Stand Battle" page. This page made it possible to display fans' cheers in real-time via a decibel meter, similar to a cheer-o-meter. It was great to see the energy of the audience translated directly into visual feedback on the screens, greatly enhancing fan interaction and engagement.
Poll Screen Integration
We also developed an interactive poll screen that was fully integrated into the F1 SAGP app. Using Retool(https://retool.com/), the organization could easily formulate questions that automatically appeared in the F1 SAGP app. Users could vote and the results were displayed live on the LED screens next to the grandstands. These polls provided an interactive dimension, where fans could share their opinions and instantly see their impact.
Conclusion
It was an incredible experience to be part of the F1 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix 2024 team and are grateful for the opportunity to work together on such a prestigious event. We look forward to continuing to use our expertise on similar projects in the future.
